Privacy Policy for Toxin

Last updated: June 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Toxin app ("Toxin," "we," "us") handles your information. By using Toxin you agree to this policy.

Toxin is operated by Nishant Jain and Naman Puri, based in Connecticut, USA. Contact: toxinapp0@gmail.com.

Information we collect and how we use it

Scan history (stored on your device). When you scan a product, the result (product name, ingredients, score) is stored locally on your device so you can view your history. This stays on your device and is not sent to or stored on our servers.

Photos of ingredient labels. When a scanned product isn't found, the app offers to read ingredients from a photo you take of the label. If you consent, that photo is sent — through our own secure server — to a third-party artificial intelligence service (Anthropic, provider of the Claude API) solely to extract the ingredient text. We do not use these photos for any other purpose and do not retain them after processing. Anthropic's handling of submitted data is governed by Anthropic's own terms.

Camera. Camera access is used only to scan barcodes and to photograph ingredient labels at your direction. No other camera use; no video is recorded or uploaded.

Product data. Product and ingredient information is provided by Open Food Facts under the Open Database License (ODbL). We do not send your personal identity to that service.

Analytics and product measurement. We use analytics and product-measurement tools to understand how the app is used — for example, which steps users complete, where they drop off, and which features are used — so we can improve the app, and to run A/B tests (including of onboarding, trial length, and pricing). This data is used to improve the app and is not sold. Where required, we will request your permission (including via Apple's App Tracking Transparency) before any tracking that Apple defines as cross-app or cross-website tracking, and you can decline.

Subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple via in-app purchase, and subscription status is managed through a third-party subscription tool (RevenueCat) to deliver your subscription across your devices. We receive subscription status and related purchase events, not your full payment card details.
